Orora Visual Invests in Best-in-Class Color Matching Technology

[Mesquite, TX – March 2023]

New Techkon SpectroDens instruments are installed at all four of Orora Visual’s print production facilities in the U.S.

The Techkon SpectroDens advanced spectrodensitometer is an all-in-one densitometer and spectrophotometer designed for ultra-precise color scanning and measurement throughout the print workflow. It quickly verifies ink in the color lab/ink formulation room, measures the color of proofs in the pre-press department, reduces make-ready times, and ensures color accuracy and quality control in the press room.

“Across our plants, we manage 5,000 hours of printing a month at a minimum on our five 81-inch KBA litho presses for packaging, posters, and general commercial print production”, said Joe Kulis, Director of Operations (Chicago) at Orora Visual. “Color can be challenging when you factor in the various white points of substrate materials and our various print methods including offset, digital and dye sublimation. Our investment in the most advanced color control and color matching technology allows us to measure our process, spot, Pantone®, and other critical brand colors quickly and accurately, each and every time.” Kulis added.

Additionally, investments were made in Techkon’s ChromaQA color management software across the Orora Visual footprint allowing the company to centralize ink management, collect and track color data reports, and most importantly, achieve consistent color from run to run and from facility to facility.

“Think of it as a color library, or source of truth, that all our facilities have access to. With 43 printing presses across four coast-to-coast manufacturing plants, this investment assures less time in pre-press and make ready, and faster turn times and brand compliance for our customers,” said Kulis.
